Workshop is FULL. Waitlist only.
Participants will learn the principles of ecological gardening and the challenges and joys of building a garden in the Kootenays given the current climatic conditions.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the principles of an EcoGarden including FireSmart, ClimateSmart, WaterWise, WildSafe and Invasive Species. The next component will explore gardening with native plants and the principles of ecologically mindful garden design. Participants will then have the opportunity to put these principles into practice with a hands-on garden design session.
The workshop will be held on site of the Kootenay Gallery of Art, home to new native plant demonstration gardens. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills while collaboratively designing an exciting new interpretive space in the Gallery gardens. Take the skills home with you to build your own EcoGarden!
