Event #1: Blewett Communities Pulling Together Event
Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2024
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: 4100 block Kays Road, near the red barns in the middle of the section. Parking is available in the driveway leading to the barns.
What to Bring: CKISS provides gloves and tools, but if you have a garden fork, please bring it along as it works great for digging out tansy!
Description: Join us just outside Nelson in Blewett to mechanically remove common tansy, an invasive plant that reduces plant diversity and impacts biodiversity. You’ll gain hands-on learning experiences on the impacts of invasive plants and proper removal and disposal techniques.
No pre-registration required – just show up!
Event #2: Kootenay Gallery Communities Pulling Together
Date: Saturday, July 6, 2024
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: 120 Heritage Way, Castlegar. Meet at the Kootenay Gallery Roundabout.
What to Bring: We provide gloves and tools.
Description: Join CKISS and the West Kootenay Naturalist to tackle invasive plants and enhance ecosystem health and community safety. It’s a great opportunity to make a positive impact while enjoying the outdoors with like-minded people!

Event #3: Snk’mip Marsh Sanctuary Communities Pulling Together Event
Date: Sunday, July 7, 2024
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Meet in Hills BC (just north of New Denver) at the pull-out located at Bonanza Rd and Hwy 6. Park your vehicle and walk down – follow the signs to the sanctuary.
Description: Learn about swamp creatures, wetland restoration, and help with invasive plant removal at the Snk’mip Marsh Sanctuary. Your efforts will improve the health of this important wetland!
