CKISS at the Incredible Farmers Market in Fruitvale – August 19, 2025
The Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society (CKISS) is excited to be attending the Incredible Farmers Market in Fruitvale on Tuesday, August 19 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Pole Yard Lane. This vibrant community market is a great place to shop local, connect with neighbours, and learn more about the plants and wildlife that make our region special.
At our CKISS outreach booth, you’ll find educational materials, hands-on displays, and friendly staff ready to answer your questions about invasive species in the West Kootenay. Whether you’re a gardener, boater, hiker, or landowner, we’ve got tips and tools to help you identify and manage invasive plants and animals in your area.
Learn how to:
Stop the spread of invasive species on land and water
Identify high-priority invasive plants like knotweed or poison hemlock
Get involved in community weed pulls and citizen science
Protect native habitats, biodiversity, and water quality
We’ll also have fun giveaways, ID brochures, and more for you to take home. Come on by, ask questions, and discover how you can make a difference—every action counts!
