Join CKISS for a hands-on Poison Hemlock Patrol Workshop on May 9 in Creston!


The Poison Hemlock Patrol is an exciting initiative that pays participants to help remove poison hemlock from the Creston community. Using the Crowdsorsa mobile app, participants can track the plants you remove and earn cash rewards while helping protect local ecosystems, livestock, pets, and people.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday May 9, 2026
  • Location: Meet at the Creston Library – 531 16 Ave
  • Time: 5:00 – 7:30 – between indoor and outdoor session there will be a break for pizza & beverages!
  • Details: The session begins indoors with a presentation at the Creston library, then we’ll head outside to put your new skills into action by identifying and removing plants along a Dodd’s Creek in Millennium Park
  • What to bring: sturdy shoes & mobile device with data

CKISS will provide all personal protective equipment, tools—and pizza! 🍕

  • How to identify poison hemlock and distinguish it from look-alike plants
  • The risks and impacts of this highly toxic invasive species
  • Safety gear and handling practices to protect yourself

Private landowners dealing with poison hemlock are especially encouraged to attend, as we’re also looking to connect with properties that need help.
