Thor Smestad announced in September that he would be stepping down from our Board of Directors to head out on an adventure of a lifetime. Thor is jumping on his motorcycle and heading to South America to travel, learn and explore.
We were lucky enough to have Thor for 2 years as an esteemed member of our Board. He has a rich history of ecosystem restoration and his green thumb is top notch. Thor is the owner/operator of Treebear Native Plants & Ecological Services that specializes in the restoration of ecosystems in the Kootenays with a focus on community and student focused projects. Thor was crucial to the success of some of our restoration projects including the Dog Walk Park in Nelson and Reclamation Ride in Taghum Beach, pictured above (Thor’s the handsome guy in the middle with the high vest on). From all of us at CKISS we thank you for making the Kootenays a better place to live and wish you all the best on this next chapter of your life! Adios Amigo!
