May 4th-6th, 2017: BC Wildlife Federation Annual General Meeting & Convention : “Conservation Through Collaboration”.

This year’s AGM will be held in Nelson, BC. Nelson is nestled in the Selkirk Mountains along the west arm of Kootenay Lake in the West Kootenay region. Boasting spectacular lake and mountain views, Nelson is also a thriving arts and small business community known as a heritage capital and the Queen city of the Kootenays.

This year’s theme is “Conservation Through Collaboration”. CKISS will attend with our outreach booth as part of  “Invasive Species Action Month”. We are excited to speak to outdoor enthusiasts, hunters and anglers about the simple actions they can take to protect the environment against harmful invasive species.

Our hosts for the 2017 convention are The Nelson District Rod & Gun Club. Don’t miss their Club Fun Night as they will have a Red Seal chef on hand to prepare a variety of delicious fish and wild game meat as well as a whole roasted hog. ALL BCWF members are welcome, for more information & to register please visit the BCWF website.

Delegates will want to bring their families to the convention as the Nelson Club has lined up enjoyable spousal activities, including a Creston Skyway Kootenay Lake ferry circle tour and a Castlegar Trail Salmo circle tour. Youth activities will include a visit to the Creston Valley Wildlife Centre, Kokanee mountain zip lining and archery and trap shooting practice at the four indoor and outdoor club ranges.

The BCWF’s 2017 Convention will be held at the waterfront Prestige Lakeside Resort. Outdoor activities and Nelson’s cultural scene are only a few minutes away. Nelson’s Heritage Streetcar #23 arrives outside the front entrance of the resort, just a short ride from historic Baker Street and local museums and galleries.
