SESSION DESCRIPTION:

Discussion of concerns related to the movement of soils in the province, specifically the creation of contaminated sites from soil relocation and the spread of invasive species in soil, aggregates and compost. An overview of the topic and tools currently available to manage soil movement will be provided. The main focus of this workshop will be to discuss current initiatives and seek input into future initiatives that could address soil movement concerns, including proposed regulatory changes under the Environmental Management Act, a UBCM resolution proposing a provincial Safe Soil Program, and initial findings from a Provincial/Local Government Soils and Invasive Species Working Group.
