We’re excited to announce that CKISS will be at the Blewett Volunteer Fire Department Open House Event on Saturday, April 27th, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Carlson Rd Firehall. Our information table will be set up with resources to help you manage invasive plants like Scotch broom, which can be a fire hazard.
But that’s not all! We’ll also have EcoGarden resources available to assist you in selecting plants that are perfect for your Central Kootenay garden, wildlife-friendly, and contribute to addressing regional climate change, water, and fire concerns.

- Visit CKISS for invasive species management tips
- Explore West Kootenay Native Plants Society offerings

12 pm – 2 pm: Information and Demonstrations
- Discover new equipment for small-scale forest management
- Witness demonstrations of a carrier with winch and mulcher
- Gain insights into fire suppression techniques from the Blewett Volunteer Fire Department and Forest Service crew
